Selected Treats from JD's Roadhouse Resto

June 1, 2009 by cadillakad

How do you choose restos when you go out to dine? I, personally, prefer ones with good-tasting food at very afforable prices.
Although some people believe that you usually get the best when you pay more, that doesn't happen always.  There is this fashion for less.  And this proven thing about dining in a clean and classy resto, enjoying delicious inexpensive food.

In the present times, the down economy urges everyone to save up.  Most financial experts would advise everyone that is wise to have at least two months financial reserve.  And if you are to check on every spender's expenditure details, you will commonly see shopping and dining out as two of the biggest suckers of hard-earned money.  In this light, allow me to introduce to you one famous restaurant here in Iloilo City - JD's Roadhouse.

Roadhouse is located at Gen. Luna St., Iloilo City.  If you're riding on jeepneys bound to VIlla or SM City proper you will surely find this beautiful place that shines like gold at night time.  The resto is known to many for its inexpensive food despite of the classy ambiance in the restaurant.  But allow me to be another living witness to Roadhouse's tasty food at meager price.

When you enter Roadhouse resto, I advise you to go in further until you reach the dining spot overlooking Iloilo River.  Whether you eat there at day time or night time, you won't have any problem with harmful rays of the afternoon sunshine or mosquitoes enjoying the evening breeze.  The place is really cool and 101% clean.

After getting the menu clad in leather case, please don't be surprised with food priced at lower than 100 pesos or a little above 50 pesos.  Let me share with you a personal set of food I ordered when I was with my special someone.

While waiting for your order, Roadhouse serves freshly-cooked banana chips.  Nope it doesn't feel saggy but it does taste yummy because of a cheesy after taste.

For drinks, no need to ask for mineral or service water.  The resto serves it at an amount and coldness that you can definitely sip all in.  But the house's finest is their Emilion Delight.  I personally feel that it tastes like a combi of orange and mango along with some pulpy ingredients.  That's just my personal thoughts though; only Roadhouse knows their secret ingredients.  But overall, I give it 2 thumbs up!

For the main course, I'd like a bowl of prawn sinigang.  In Roadhouse, before your sinigang is served they will first offer you a taster thingy which has sample amount of soup of your sinigang.  Then you decide whether you'd like it more sour or a little blant.  Awesome isn't it?

The Pancit Guisado is another personal favorite.  Yeah yeah it is very simple.  Almost all restos serve pancit.  But mind you, when Roadhouse says it's guisado, it absolutely tastes guisado.  I must say once you taste this, you'll never know other resto that serve the same simple pancit guisado.  Just try it...you'll love it!

The above photo shows Crispy Tadyang by Roadhouse.  I said crispy and it really is C-R-R-R-R-I-S-P-Y Roadhouse will never lie to you when it comes to their menu....as in never!

If the appetizer banana chips was served for FREE, dessert at Roadhouse is also for FREE.  Nope, we didn't order for this but it was served right after the waiters and waitresses felt like we're done with our dinner.  It's none other than Bibingka.  I personally call it Bibingka Royale because I feel like it's suited for people with choosy food preferences.  The Bibingka, cut into 4, is topped with cheese or perhaps butter.  The salted egg like at the very center of the Bibingka acts like a perfect taste teaser.  I hate eggs but with Bibingka that tastes sooooo smooth like this, I'll totally forget the egg until I'm done with my dessert.

OK for my total bill.  Believe it or not I only paid for a little above 500 pesos!!!! Super!!!!

Haha...don't get me wrong...I'm not related in any way to Roadhouse.  This is just my personal review of the resto.  And I did it with no bias or prejudice.  But please forgive me if ever I missed out things like being objective in terms of how my tongue responds to specific tastes.
